Lazer Tracker vs. Height
Selector
The question often arises,
“Why use the Lazer Tracker when I could use a Height Selector?”
There are many reasons to why the Lazer Tracker is a superior
product when compared to the height selector.
Below is a quick list of the reasons:
1. TIME: The Lazer Tracker
allows the driver of the fork truck to move as fast as desired.
The Height Selector does not. Fork truck operators will be
able to keep their eyes up and on their target as the Lazer
Tracker beam reaches the pallet opening at “the speed
of light”. When a Height Selector is utilized, the fork
truck must be stopped, the driver must look down, and the
selector button must be pushed. This slows down the pallet
retrieval process…..
Time is money.
2. EFFICIENCY: The Lazer
Tracker beam is always at the level of the forks. In many
areas of a warehouse the floors are uneven. In these areas
the Height Selector will not perform accurately. For example,
a section of a warehouse floor could be three inches higher
than the floor level where the height selector was set to
zero. The fork truck operator would then be required to “feather“
the fork level before entry…..
This extra movement is inefficient.
3. CONSISTENCY: The Lazer
Tracker will remain accurate when forklift tires wear down,
a Height Selector will not. When tires wear down, an operator
using a height selector will be forced to make adjustments
in order to ensure accurate pallet entry. The only way to
correct this problem with the Height Selector is to recalibrate
the internal software…..
Who will do this? How long will the truck be out of service?
How much will it cost?
4. EASE OF USE: The Lazer
Tracker can be used instantly by any of your forklift drivers,
the Height Selector cannot. Using the Lazer Tracker requires
no training. Running a Height Selector takes some training
and will not be utilized by someone without that training.
Sometimes the regular operator of a forklift with a Height
Selector will not be available and someone else will be needed
to drive that forklift…..
Will the height selector be used? Who will show them how to
use it?
How much time will it take?
5. MAINTENANCE: The structure
of the Lazer Tracker is very simple. The make up of the Height
Selector is complicated and relies on many parts in order
to function properly. Any problem with the Lazer Tracker can
be easily identified. This is obviously not true of the height
indicator which utilizes confusing microchips and software…..
Don’t lose time to a truck out of service!
6. CONFIDENCE: The Lazer
Tracker provides the driver with a visual guide. The Height
Selector does not. The Lazer Tracker gives forklift operators
confidence precisely because they can see the beam. When a
Height Selector is used the driver must count on unreliable
computer software to determine the fork level. Justly, many
drivers will be hesitant to move in rapidly for pallet retrieval.
The added confidence obtained from using the Lazer Tracker
will result in less accidents, minimized product damage and
higher productivity……
Increase safety while adding to your bottom line!!!!
